Better car pictures

Here's a couple of better pictures from our new set of wheels.

The old car got picked up yesterday. Everything went well with that. After it was gone I quickly put the last items that I had for it in eBay. The extra seats, summer tires and repair manual. Hopefully they bring good prices!

Heide's happy with the car and Joleen is happy she doesn't have to sit in the 'trunk' anymore. In the old car we only had a lap belt on the middle seat so we couldn't use a car seat with it. Because of that Joleen sat in the third row. Remember fighting on the bus to be able to sit in the back??? That doesn't happen here!
With this one the second row has three seats all with 3 point belts. Now they all sit in a row.

The next thing we need to get done is the conversion to propane. It costs around 2000 euro which with the amout of kilometers we drive it'll pay for itself after about 2 1/2 years.

Out with the old, in with the new...

It's now time to say Good bye. You were nice, even if your heater didn't work very well...For the most part you didn't let us down. We visited lots of places with you.....

...We visited the Alps....

...the Alps again, though this time you had to pull a trailer over them loaded with a couple of dirt bikes for Christoph and me...

Then you took us down to Croatia.
On the way back you started to complain and threw off a bit of your serpentine belt. But you got us home and continued without any trouble for a few months.

Then it got cold, Heide and the kids were freezing. The only one of the heater fans was working and it was 6 degrees fahrenheit. That is no longer acceptable, sorry. I was given the assignment, find a replacement. It's not easy, over here there aren't many vans with sliding doors. And on top of that, it shouldn't cost too much.
After looking around for a couple of weeks, I ended up at the used car dealer in our village. He had what we needed and the price was right!

We've now switched from Lancia to Peugeot and hopefully the new one will be around as faithfully and longer than you were. He is a bit younger this time....

We decided to go away from a diesel and get something that I can get converted to LPG. That will happen in the next month or two.

I advertised you in the internet and you weren't even in there for more than 5 minutes! Now your adventure will continue on to Africa or wherever it is that you get exported to!

My Bike is broken

As I had mentioned to a few people, I broke my shock absorber in September. I've taken out the upper half but am now having problems with the bottom part. Now the resessed allen head wants to strip!!!

Fortunately there wasn't much damage done to the shock itself. The lower part that broke can be unscrewed and replaced. It's normally used to set the height of bike.

Any good suggestions here?

It seems to me that probably the head is corroded into the swingarm.

Kenny, do you still think your wax trick could be helpful here? Please don't suggest getting a new bike again, you know the Fachwerk is taking my money right now.....

Just a quick note to say hello and let you know that now you'll be able to see more of what is going on in our live in old Europe.

I'll be posting more soon. How was the weekend?
